How we help

What to do before the locksmith arrives

First check that you are safe and that another authorised entrance is not already available.

Do not force a window, climb at height or keep turning a key that is bending. If you rent or live in a managed building, the agent, owner, reception or security may have an access process.

When you call, explain whether the key is lost, inside, broken or simply no longer turning.

Services

The cause changes the solution

Keys left inside

The lock may be operating normally; authorised entry is the immediate task.

After access, consider a rekey so the missing key no longer works.

Questions

Helpful answers before the job

What should I have ready for a lockout?

Have photo identification and evidence that you live at, manage or own the property. For a vehicle, be ready to show identification and a connection to the vehicle. Managed buildings may also require approval from reception, security or the property manager.

Will you drill the lock to gain entry?

The first approach is to assess the lock and use the least destructive suitable method. Drilling is not automatically required, although damaged, failed or high-security hardware can sometimes make replacement necessary.

Can you enter a rental property?

Yes, when you can show you occupy the property or have the authority of the owner or manager. Common-property access may need separate approval.

Should I rekey after losing my keys?

If an unaccounted-for key could be connected to your address, rekeying suitable locks prevents that old key from working.

What if my key is turning but the door will not open?

Stop applying excessive force. The latch, lock body, handle or door alignment may have failed and should be assessed as a system.
