How we help

Repair the cause, not just the symptom

If a lock has become harder to use over time, forcing it can turn a manageable repair into a broken key or complete lockout.

Loose handles, a dropped door, a strike that no longer lines up, internal wear or coastal corrosion can all produce similar symptoms. The right repair depends on what happens with the door open as well as closed.

Where the hardware is no longer safe or economical to repair, suitable replacement options can be discussed.

Services

Common lock and door faults

Door misalignment

Movement in hinges, frame or door can prevent a sound lock from lining up.

Cylinder wear

Keys may become rough, intermittent or difficult to insert and turn.

Loose hardware

Fixings and handles can shift until the mechanism no longer operates correctly.

Broken key

The fragment and the reason it broke both need attention.

Corrosion and exposure

External and coastal hardware can deteriorate through moisture and salt.

Failed mechanism

An internal lock body may require component repair or full replacement.

Questions

Helpful answers before the job

Do you repair locks as well as replace them?

Yes. A repair or adjustment may be the most sensible outcome when the main hardware remains sound. If the lock is unsafe, badly worn or unsuitable for the door, replacement options can be explained.

Why does my lock work when the door is open?

That often points to alignment between the lock or latch and the strike in the frame, although the complete door should be checked.

Should I spray lubricant into the lock?

Use only a product suitable for the lock and follow manufacturer guidance. The wrong product can collect dirt or affect components, and lubrication will not fix alignment or broken parts.

Can a snapped key be removed?

Often, but the lock and remaining key pieces need assessment. A worn cylinder or damaged key may also require repair or rekeying.

When is replacement the better option?

Replacement may be appropriate when hardware is badly worn, unsafe, repeatedly failing, damaged or not suitable for the door and use.
