When a lock cannot be repaired sensibly or no longer suits the door, choose replacement hardware based on construction, daily use and who needs access.
How we help
A replacement lock has to fit more than the existing hole. Door material, thickness, frame, backset, weather exposure and normal operation all matter.
The aim is a reliable setup that household members, tenants or staff can use correctly every day. Extra complexity is not automatically extra security.
If lost keys are the only concern and the lock remains sound, a rekey may be sufficient instead of full replacement.

Questions
Not always. If the hardware is suitable and serviceable, rekeying may stop the old key from working without replacing the full lock.
Sometimes, subject to the door, frame, dimensions, access needs and any property-management requirements.
Compatible cylinders can sometimes be keyed alike. This should be planned before hardware is ordered or fitted.
Alignment should be addressed as part of the assessment; fitting a new lock without correcting the cause may produce the same problem.
The owner, authorised property manager or body corporate may need to approve work, especially for common property or managed key systems.
Call and explain what has happened, where you are and which door, lock or vehicle is involved. If it is easier, text a couple of clear photos first.
